English Social Doctrine Compendium Heads to Korea
Oct 28, 2008

VATICAN CITY, OCT. 28, 2008 (Zenit.org).- Continuing a worldwide tour to present the Compendium of the Social Doctrine of the Church, Cardinal Renato Martino will head to Korea this week.

The president of the Pontifical Council for Justice and Peace will travel to Seoul, South Korea, this Thursday through Sunday to present the volume, which was completed in 2004.

According to a communiqué from that Vatican dicastery, the objective of the trip will be "to offer the contribution of Christian social teaching to the solution for the grave problems of the Asian world."

The cardinal will stay at the apostolic nunciature of Korea, and address the Korean episcopal conference. He will also meet with the nation's prime minister and minister of foreign affairs, "to discuss issues of common interest."

From Korea, Cardinal Martino will head to Bangkok, Thailand, where he will preside over a Nov. 6-8 Pan-Asian conference on the ministry to migrants and refugees.
