The Hungarian Cardinal Peter Erdo of Esztergom-Budapest, 51, is the youngest cardinal in the College.
(The Tablet, 23 April 2005) He has already made changes to Hungary's principal archdiocese since taking over earlier this year, reviving parish missions and forging better relations with government.
At his installation, Cardinal Erdo said his priority was fostering Christian unity and "helping to build peace in the Church and entire nation". A former associate professor at the Gregorian, he is familiar with Rome.
