Portuguese MP Visits Cardinal Alexandre Do Nascimento

The discussion of various social and political issues of the country and of the world topped the audience that Angolan Cardinal Don Alexandre do Nascimento granted to the Portuguese Parliament speaker, Jaime Gama.

Angola Press Agency (Luanda, 17 December 2007) "Don Alexandre do Nascimento is a illustrous personality of the religious life of Angola and of the world. I have a special will to meet him whenever I come to Angola. He is always an Angolan patriot and defender of the idea that Angola should be an independent nation" - referred Jaime Gama at the end of the audience with the religious entity at his official residence.

According to the Portuguese MP, during the courtesy meeting, of approximately one hour, he encouraged Don Alexandre do Nascimento to continue publishing his books, including those of poetry.

Jaime Gama leads a delegation of the Parliament of Portugal that is in Angola since last Saturday at the invitation of his Angolan counterpart, Roberto de Almeida, in the light of the reinforcement of the cooperation between the two parliaments.

This Tuesday the Angolan National Assembly (Parliament) held a solemn session allusive to Jaime Gama's visit.

Meetings with officials of the central government, with highlight to Prime Minister Fernando Dias dos Santos, with the ministers of Planning, Ana Dias Lourenço, of Foreign Affairs, João Bernardo de Miranda, and religious entities, marked the top Portuguese MP's visit.
