Cardinal Extols Good Relations of Catholic Churches

Cardinal Dom Alexandre do Nascimento on Saturday in Luanda stressed the existing privileged relations between the Angola and Portugal Catholic churches, specially with regard to exchange of experiences.
Luanda, 12/03/2005 (angolapress-angop.ao) The religious entity made these remarks at the end of an audience with the Portuguese Minister of Foreign Affairs, Diogo Freitas do Amaral, who is in Angola since Thursday.
In this regard, Dom Alexandre do Nascimento referred that the relations with the bishops of the two States have always been exemplary. "We are in a stage of great development and the church sensitizes people toward a positive mentality, in a way that they can help Angola progress", he underlined.
According to the Cardinal, on the occasion, the Portuguese Minister underlined the great evolution and development of Angola, pointing out the inauguration of the New Village project, which opens a ample and optimistic vision.
Today, the visiting Minister visited the Portuguese School and delivered a press conference at Hotel Tropico, in Luanda.
During his visit to Angola, Freitas do Amaral held meetings with President José Eduardo dos Santos, the Speaker of the Angolan Parliament, Roberto de Almeida, the Prime Minister, Fernando da Piedade Dias dos Santos, and held official talks with Angolan entities to address the relations between Angola and Portugal.
