Cardinal Urosa urges AN to consider request regarding CNE

Venezuelan Jorge Liberato Cardinal Urosa Savino had the honor to commemorate along with Pope Benedict XVI the blessing ceremony where 27 metropolitan archbishops of 18 countries were granted the pall.

(El Universal, June 30 , 2006) The Venezuelan cardinal is part of the Vatican Commission for Justice and Peace and the Commission for Latin America.

He was pleased to remember that he received "a very honorable invitation by the National Assembly (AN) on April 20th." "I asked the parliamentarians to take into account a number of concerns, remarks and requests made recently by Venezuelan bishops," he added.

Requests basically include promotion of a reliable electoral system, for those Venezuelan sectors that do not trust the National Electoral Council (CNE) to believe in it. "I insisted at the Parliament on the need to promote in Venezuela a true fraternal community, where everybody feels included, with no exclusion or political intolerance. On the contrary, there should be a feeling of amity to bring peace, which is such important."
