Cardinal Urosa ratifies Catholic Church stance, backs bishops Porras and Lückert

Cardinal Jorge Urosa Savino ratified a press release issued Wednesday by the Venezuelan Conference of Bishops (CEV) and expressed his support to bishops Baltasar Porras and Roberto Lückert. Attorney General Isaías Rodríguez criticized them when they lamented his remarks on the murder of priest Jorge Piñango.
(El Universal, April 27, 2006) The cardinal does not want the case to be intermingled with political issues, "let alone the electoral issue or any prior occurrence," Unión Radio quoted.
He emphasized that the communiqué clearly voiced expectations about finding the individuals responsible, in addition to a transparent work by the authorities in order to clarify the murder.
