English Croatia's First National No-smoking Day
Oct 17, 2004
The no-smoking day received support from the Croatian archbishop Josip Bozanic, who instructed his priests to introduce the topic into their Sunday sermons.

(The Lancet, 2003-03-07) Croatia's national no-smoking campaign received a boost with the launch its first no-smoking day on March 5, the first day of Lent.

The national board for the no-smoking campaign, which organised the day, hopes that, since more than 80% of people in Croatia are Catholics, the promotion may provide strong motivation for people to think about their health and to make long-term decisions about giving up smoking.

The no-smoking day received support from the Croatian archbishop Josip Bozanic, who instructed his priests to introduce the topic into their Sunday sermons.
